Saw Palmetto for prostate enlargement (BPH) is well-studied in the scientific literature One of the most common prescription drug treatments for prostate enlargement is Tamsulosin, tradename Flomax®.
The goal of this study was to compare the relative effectiveness of Flomax® and Saw Palmetto. After treating 60 men diagnosed with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), the researchers concluded that both treatments were equally effective. Saw Palmetto, it was noted, did not have any side effects.
