Study Result: Magnesium Lowered Systolic Blood Pressure By 20 Points

Eight-two people between the ages of 40 and 75 with diabetes and high blood pressure were given 450 mg of magnesium daily. Over 4 months, 79 people completed the study and experienced an average reduction of 20.4 points in systolic blood pressure and 8.7 points in diastolic blood pressure. The researchers concluded magnesium supplementation significantly reduces systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in diabetic patients with high blood pressure.

The researchers concluded:

“Oral magnesium supplementation significantly reduces systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure in diabetic hypertensive adults with low magnesium levels.”
