Study Result: Magnesium Lowered Blood Pressure Much More Than Placebo In Participants With High Blood Pressure

In a study of 155 overweight adults with elevated blood pressure and normal magnesium levels, 300 milligrams of magnesium oxide was found to lower blood pressure much more than placebo in those patients with high blood pressure. For those already with normal blood pressure, no change in blood pressure occurred, demonstrating magnesium has a normalizing effect on blood pressure, lowering it when it is high and maintaining normal blood pressure when it is within the average range. No side effects occurred in the magnesium-supplemented.
