Phaseolus vulgaris extract, also known as white kidney bean extract, or commercially as Phase 2 Carb Block, was studied for 30 days in 60 slightly overweight subjects. Carb Blockers promote weight loss by interfering with the breakdown of complex carbohydrates, thereby reducing the number of calories absorbed. In the study, only one 445 milligram tablet a day was taken and resulted in an average of 6.45 pounds lost in 30 days. There was an average drop of 10% in body fat mass.
According to the researchers, the subjects who received the phaseolus vulgaris extract:
“Had a significantly greater reduction of body weight, BMI, fat mass, adipose tissue thickness, and waist,/hip/ thigh circumferences while maintaining lean body mass compared to subjects receiving placebo.”
